Selected to open this year’s Cannes Film Festival next month, Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom is sure to be one of the best films of the year.

The first trailer was released back at the start of the year, and if you haven’t seen it yet, I’d definitely recommend clicking the link and taking a look. With a month left until its UK release, we now have six new clips to share from the film, courtesy of its YouTube channel.

Anderson is directing from a script he co-wrote with Roman Coppola (The Darjeeling Limited), and has assembled a great cast of new and familiar faces, including Edward Norton, Bruce Willis, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and introducing Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as the leading children.

“Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, MOONRISE KINGDOM tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore — and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle. Bruce Willis plays the local sheriff. Edward Norton is a Khaki Scout troop leader. Bill Murray and Frances McDormand portray the young girl’s parents. The cast also includes Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as the boy and girl.”

After opening Cannes on 16th May, Moonrise Kingdom will then be coming to the UK on 25th May, which gives us exactly one month left to wait. If you’re a fan of Anderson’s films – and whilst I know he’s a polarising director, you really should love them – this definitely promises to be a highlight for the year. For now, the six new clips for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy.
