We got the fantastic first trailer back in April for the upcoming film, Warrior, due out on 23rd September, and it gave us a brilliant first proper look at the film, which I have a feeling will be a strong contender for my personal top ten films of the year.

This new clip from the film, courtesy of Yahoo Movies, entitled ‘200 Bucks’, is another awesome look at Warrior, and just gives us more reasons to be excited about what’s set to be an immense film.

“An ex-Marine haunted by a tragic past, Tommy Riordan (Hardy) returns to his hometown of Pittsburgh and enlists his father (Nick Nolte), a recovered alcoholic and his former coach, to train him for an MMA tournament awarding the biggest purse in the history of the sport. As Tommy blazes a violent path towards the title prize, his brother, Brendan (Edgerton), a former MMA fighter unable to make ends meet as a public school teacher, returns to the amateur ring to provide for his family. Even though years have passed, recriminations and past betrayals keep Brendan bitterly estranged from both Tommy and his father.”

I had a lot of love for this year’s The Fighter with Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale, which surprised me a little in quite how much I enjoyed a film about boxing. I knew it would be amazing, but it was even better than I expected, and I really think Warrior will be even better than the awesome film I’m already expecting, which would be excellent. If this new clip is anything to go by, it will be.

Directed by Gavin O’Connor (Pride and Glory), the film is led by Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton, and also stars Nick Nolte, Jennifer Morrison, and Frank Grillo. 200 Bucks sees Hardy as a bit of an underdog, with everyone surrounding him, including his opponent, thinking that he’s about to be put in place. But of course, he reverses expectations, and knocks the guy flat out, passing out against the ropes. It makes for pretty awesome viewing.

Hardy has really been making a name for himself in recent years, starring in Matthew Vaughn’s Layer Cake, Guy Ritchie’s RocknRolla, Nicolas Winding Refn’s Bronson, and most recently Christopher Nolan’s Inception, which has brought Hardy into international focus. He’ll also be starring alongside Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, and Mark Strong in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, which is released a week before Warrior, and is currently at work filming The Dark Knight Rises, in which he will return to work with Christopher Nolan to portray Bane.

With just a couple of short weeks until Warrior’s release, it’s really not long at all now that we’ve got to wait to see the film in its entirety. If it’s anything like this new clip suggests, it’s going to be impressive, and every bit as brilliant as The Fighter. I can’t wait. Without further ado, here it is in all its awesomeness.
