For quite despite last December’s Yogi Bear’s critical mawling (to the tune of 13% on Rotten Tomatoes), Warner Bros. are pushing forward with a sequel.

Blowing conservative estimations with a $100 million U.S. haul (and having grossed another $100 million internationally), Yogi Bear – which starred Dan Aykroyd as the titular bear and Justin Timberlake as his accomplice, Boo-Boo – showed incredibly long legs at the box office.

With Rio’s Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia signed as writers, and Donald De Line and Karen Rosenfelt returning as producers, Andrew Haas will once again executive produce as Jon Berg oversees production on the sequel for Warners.

At the very least – because I’m a picnic-basket-is-half-full – Yogi Bear 2 will give Warners reason to develop another Roadrunner and Coyote short to precede their film with. At the very least.

Variety had this one first. Blame them.
