Ahead of the release of Suicide Squad this August, director David Ayer is already lining up his next project and it will reunite him with star Will Smith. Penned by Max Landis (Chronicle), Bright is a police thriller which is also likely to include Joel Edgerton in a leading role.

However, while the movie is described as being in the same vein as End of Watch, it reportedly takes place in a world where Orcs and fairies live among humans…in the present day! It sounds like a pretty unique movie then, but even more exciting than that news is the fact that Warner Bros. are apparently already developing a Suicide Squad sequel.

10 things we’ve learned from the new Suicide Squad trailer

They’re clearly confident with how it’s coming along anyway, because they’re hoping to have Ayer back and ready to shoot this follow-up by next year (meaning it will more than likely be released in 2018). Of course, it’s too early to say whether or not this Suicide Squad sequel will happen because it will ultimately come down to how much it makes at the box office!

Still, this is definitely a good sign for the Suicide Squad franchise, a movie which will be the first comic book adaptation to put the focus on the bad guys rather than superheroes.
