Channel 4, Sony Pictures Television, and Playground have unveiled the first official look at Glenn Close as the dangerously sharp-tongued Maud Oldcastle in the upcoming drama series ‘Up to No Good.’
Based on Helene Tursten’s acclaimed short story collections ‘An Elderly Lady Is Up to No Good and An Elderly Lady Must Not Be Crossed,’ the six-part series promises a delicious cocktail of dark comedy, murder, and razor-edged wit. The newly released image offers audiences their first glimpse of Close in the role of Maud, a seemingly ordinary elderly woman hiding a lethal streak beneath her icy composure.
Penned by acclaimed playwright siblings Nina Raine and Moses Raine, the series marks the duo’s first original television creation. The story follows Maud Oldcastle, described as hilariously brusque, cantankerous, and ruthless. After spending much of her life caring for her sister Charlotte, Maud decides it is finally time to reclaim her independence and embrace a long-overdue second act. Unfortunately for anyone standing in her way, Maud also happens to be a killer.

As suspicions begin to swirl around a mysterious death in her building, young detective Hannah, played by Claudia Jessie, starts to believe Maud may be concealing far more than a sharp tongue and a stubborn attitude. The investigation forces Maud to confront both her present crimes and the ghosts buried deep in her past.
The series is directed by Lee Haven Jones and features an impressive ensemble cast. Newly announced cast members include Tanya Reynolds, Mathew Baynton, Iain Glen, Raphaël Acloque, Nadia Albina, Louisa Binder, Meg Bellamy, Madeleine Mantock, Peter Egan, and Richard E. Grant.
They join the previously announced cast featuring Gloria Obianyo, Anita Dobson, Ben Crompton, Meera Syal, and Penelope Wilton as Charlotte.
