Turbo_CampC_HRHaving found a big family hit in The Croods this spring, DreamWorks will be back on the big screen in the summer season with another animated blockbuster bound to be a family-favourite in Turbo.

The Croods took north of half a billion dollars at the box office, which was a big win for the studio coming off the back of Rise of the Guardians’ unfortunate loss last year, and I for one can’t wait to see what they have in store for us with Turbo.

The last we saw of the film was two great full-length trailers back in March, right around the time the studio were gearing up for The Croods. And now they’ve debuted another great UK trailer, featuring some great new footage.

From the makers of Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda, Turbo is a high-velocity 3D comedy about an underdog snail who kicks into overdrive when he miraculously attains the power of super-speed. But after making fast friends with a crew of streetwise, tricked-out es-car-goes, Turbo learns that no one succeeds on their own. So he puts his heart and shell on the line to help his pals achieve their dreams, before Turbo-charging his own impossible dream: winning the Indy 500.

Ryan Reynolds is partnering up with the animation house to once more lend his voice as the titular snail. And he’s joined by a great voice cast, led by Paul Giamatti, Michael Peña, Michelle Rodriguez, Bill Hader, Luis Guzman, Richard Jenkins, Ken Jeong, Maya Rudolph, Ben Schwartz, Kurtwood Smith, Snoop Dogg, and Samuel L. Jackson.

David Soren (Merry Madagascar) is making his feature directorial debut, directing from a script he co-wrote with Robert D. Siegel (The Wrestler) and Darren Lemke (Shrek Forever After), based on his own original idea.

Turbo will be hitting in 3D on July 17th in the US, whilst its UK release date is sadly much further ahead on 18th October. Nonetheless, it looks like it’s going to be well worth the wait. Here’s the latest trailer to get you in the racing mood.
