Here’s a slightly indulgent post but since I’m a massive England cricket fan, I make no apologies for putting it up! On 10th May (and literally only that night), Kaleidoscope Entertainment will be putting on the Charity world Premiere of From the Ashes in association with Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.  From the Ashes follows the famous 1981 Ashes series, known to many as “Botham’s Ashes”, where cricketing legend Sir Ian Botham stole the show and brought England Ashes glory against all the odds.

Following the screening, a Q&A with cricketing legends, Sir Ian Botham, Bob Willis and Dickie Bird will take place live via satellite and beamed to all 100 cinemas showing the movie across the UK simultaneously. If you’re a cricket fan, this is an event not to be missed!

From the Ashes is directed by who previously brought us One Night in Turin.

FROM THE ASHES is an uplifting and remarkable tale of a summer that changed English sport forever.

In July 1981, rioting and discontent ruled the streets of England.  On the playing fields, England was 1-0 down after two tests against old enemy, Australia, and iconic all-rounder Ian Botham had resigned as English captain, hours before being pushed.  Watching on was opposing Captain, Kim Hughes, the Golden Boy of Australian sport. Brilliant and eloquent, he seemed to be a master of the universe.

With English cricket on the brink, bookmakers offered odds of 500-1 against an English win in the 3rd test.  Yet, Botham would not lie down and rediscovered his cavalier flair in a series of remarkable, match-winning performances that defined him and saw The Ashes returned home.

Packed with match action and interviews with the chief protagonists – including Sir Ian Botham, David Gower, Bob Willis, Rod Marsh, Kim Hughes and more – From The Ashes is set over one tempestuous month and tells the story of one of the most remarkable sporting turnarounds in history.

Very very much looking forward to this one! Check out the trailer below or click the poster to enlarge.
