The need for speed is officially back on the runway. Paramount Pictures has announced a high-flying celebration for the 40th anniversary of the iconic 1986 blockbuster ‘Top Gun,’ bringing the film roaring back into cinemas nationwide for a special one-week-only theatrical event beginning May 13.
This isn’t just a nostalgic lap around the airfield. For the first time ever, ‘Top Gun’ will be showcased in cutting-edge immersive formats, giving the jet-fuelled classic a turbocharged upgrade. Expect thunderous sound, sharper visuals, and the kind of cockpit intensity that practically rattles your seat.
Double Feature: Maverick Returns to Formation
As if one supersonic ride wasn’t enough, the anniversary event will also include screenings of Top Gun: Maverick, turning the celebration into a back-to-back cinematic experience. Tickets for both films went on sale April 21, inviting audiences to relive the legacy in full throttle.
The original film follows a class of elite Navy pilots training at the Fighter Weapons School, where egos soar as high as the jets. At the centre is Tom Cruise as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, a reckless yet brilliant aviator whose need for speed became the stuff of movie legend.
