Tom Hardy has been set as the leading role in the upcoming Vietnam movie from ‘Ghost in the Shell’s’ Rupert Sanders, ‘The Things They Carried’.

Joining Hardy in the cast are Tye Sheridan (“Ready Player One”), Stephan James (“If Beale Street Could Talk”), Bill Skarsgard (“IT”), Pete Davidson (“The King Of Staten Island”), Ashton Sanders (“Moonlight”), Martin Sensmeier (“The Magnificent Seven”), Moises Arias (“Monos”), and Angus Cloud (“Euphoria”).

Sanders will direct the movie which is an adaptation of Tim O’Brien’s acclaimed collection of stories about a platoon of young soldiers and their experiences on the front lines during the Vietnam War.

The collection of stories follow the young men of Alpha Company, a platoon of soldiers sent to fight on the ground during the War. Trekking from village to village amidst chaos and confusion, the young men struggle to navigate a growing labyrinth of physical, mental, and emotional terrains as they battle for the survival of their sanity, innocence, and each other.

‘A Simple Plan’ scribe Oscar-nominated screenwriter Scott B. Smith will adapt the script. Hardy will produce alongside Dean Baker for his production company Hardy Son & Baker, while David Zander will produce on behalf of MJZ.
