A little earlier this year, Kong: Skull Island was dealt a serious blow when J.K. Simmons and Michael Keaton suddenly decided to depart the project due to other commitments. However, Tom Hiddleston has already been cast as the lead, while Brie Larson was also recently cast in the movie, while Samuel L. Jackson and John C. Reilly recently entered talks for the movie.

Now, the latest star to be eyed for a role in the movie is Toby Kebbell, someone wasted in the critically panned Fantastic Four reboot, but brilliant in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Black Mirror. There’s no word on who he’ll play or if the British actor is going to once again be a villain, but it’s hard to imagine Kebbell being as wasted as he was as Doctor Doom!

It was revealed earlier this week that screenwriter Derek Connolly (Jurassic World) has been brought on to work on the project as it heads towards a late October production start.

Legendary Pictures and Universal’s Kong: Skull Island is set to be released on March 10th, 2017. The movie aims to fully immerse audiences in the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island. Jordan Vogt-Roberts is directing from a script by John Gatins and Max Borenstein.
