Toby Kebbell

It was revealed not too long ago that the hunt for The Fantastic Four’s Doctor Doom had been narrowed down to a handful of candidates, but it has now been revealed that a clear favourite has emerged in the form of British actor Toby Kebbell.

He’s no stranger to Hollywood blockbusters after appearing in the likes of Wrath of the Titans and Prince of Persia, but he really impressed after taking on a lead role in the darkly comic Channel 4 series Black Mirror. Since then, Kebbell has appeared in Ridley Scott’s The Counselor, while he’ll also be seen later this year in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and next year in Warcraft.

According to Variety, the actor has emerged as a frontrunner, beating the likes of Jack Huston and Domhnall Gleeson. Kebbell is now Fox’s favourite choice for the role, and the site seems confident that he’ll soon join the the reboot officially.

If that proves to be the case, Kebbell will join a cast which includes Miles Teller (Mr. Fantastic), Kate Mara (The Invisible Woman), Michael B. Jordan (The Human Torch) and Jamie Bell (The Thing). The plan is for The Fantastic Four – directed by Chronicle helmer Josh Trank – to shoot this spring.

The movie promises to offer a contemporary update on the characters, similar to the Ultimate Fantastic Four comic book series and a release date of June 19th, 2015 has currently been set by the studio. What do you think of Toby Kebbell playing Victor Von Doom, a.k.a. Doctor Doom?
