With Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows due out in cinemas this weekend, it might be easy to forget that we have a second film of Burton’s to look forward to this year.

Due out in October, the 3D stop-motion black and white film sees Burton remaking his own 1984 short film, and after the excellent first trailer surfaced back in March, we now have a great set of images to share with you, four* from the film itself, and six behind the scenes photos of production.

“A heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.

A stop-motion animated film, “Frankenweenie” will be filmed in black and white and rendered in 3D, which will elevate the classic style to a whole new experience.

In Tim Burton’s “Frankenweenie” young Victor conducts a science experiment to bring his beloved dog Sparky back to life, only to face unintended, sometimes monstrous, consequences.”

Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, Martin Landau, Conchata Ferrell, and James Hiroyuki Liao are all lending their voices to the film, with Burton directing from a script by John August (Corpse Bride), so we should be in for a real treat.

Frankenweenie will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D – the first stop-motion film to play in IMAX theatres – on 5th October in the US, before coming to the UK a week later on 12th October.
