The second instalment in Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been earning positive early buzz since its premiere – you can read our review here – and things are looking good for its arrival both in our cinemas this month and across the Atlantic in early November.
Following the great clip that the studio teased earlier in the week, giving a look at Chris O’Dowd and his small role in the film, they’ve now launched a new clip teasing Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston’s return.
Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
Hemsworth, Hiddleston, and Natalie Portman lead yet another stellar cast, starring alongside Christopher Eccleston, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgård, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Jaimie Alexander, Kat Dennings, Tadanobu Asano, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, O’Dowd, and Rene Russo.
Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones) is at the helm in Kenneth Branagh’s place following the original Thor movie, with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: The First Avenger) and Christopher Yost (The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes) penning the script.
Thor: The Dark World will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 30th October in the UK, with its US release date set for November 8th.
