Each new trailer for Rupert Wyatt’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes convinces me that this will be the surprise hit of the summer, and when it was announced that a prequel was being made to Planet of the Apes there was a fair amount of trepidation, due in no small part to the lacklustre reception to Tim Burton’s re-imagining of the series in 2001.
While not entirely disowning the Burton film Fox and director Wyatt are sidestepping the film and have positioned James Franco as the man who begins the revolution, with Andy Serkis and Weta on board the new trailer we have today gives even more up about the set up. Though the trailers so far have used the same shots when depicting the apes rising I’ve seen some early shots of the ape escape that I can’t wait to see on the big screen given the Weta treatment.

There has also been another two viral videos sent out by Fox showing off the development of the apes, this one has a gun:
and there’s an iPhone ape app based on a meory test which, in this other video, shows ape kicking our human intellectual abilities to the kerb. Blimey, best be running for those hills about now – the apes are coming.
