Those pesky rodents with a love of all things nutty from The Nut Job are back this year for another little calamity filled adventure in The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature and a trailer has been revealed alongside the UK release date and character posters.
This time around Surly, Buddy and Andie have to save their home, Liberty Park but to no avail as it’s ripped up for an amusement park to be erected instead.
Directed by Cal Brunker and featuring a voice cast of Will Arnett, Katherine Heigl, Maya Rudolph, Jackie Chan, Isabela Moner, Bobby Cannavale, The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature will be released August 11th.

ANDIE
THE VOICE OF REASON
With her compassionate heart, radiating warmth, intelligence and nurturing disposition. It’s easy to see why the entire park has faith, trust, and confidence in Andie. Whether its saving lives, solving problems or lending a helping hand, Andie is a constant source of support and a partner that Surly needs more often than he is willing to admit
FRANKIE
THE LOVEABLE OAF
A Few biscuits short of a food bowl, what Frankie lacks in brains he makes up for in heart. Frankie is head over heels in love with previous and will do anything to win her love. The only thing standing in his way is his terrifying owner, Heather.
GUNTER
THE INHUMANE ANIMAL CONTROL WORKER
He is Oakton’s local animal control agent. Gunther plays the role of an environmentalist and humanitarian but is quick to reveal himself for the sadist he truly is
HEATHER
THE WARNING SIGN
Heather is the Mayor’s daughter. A chip off the old block and the only thing in Oakton that the mayor can’t control, Heather is a little hell-raiser who makes Regan Macneil seem like the ideal daughter. When she wants something, she had better get it immediately, whether that means taking it herself or shrieking until her father gives it to her. She destroys her toys and is not much nicer to animals. As greedy as her father and twice as cruel, Heather is hardly a girl scout.
MAYOR
AVARICE INCARNATE
Greedy and unscrupulous, the Mayor is the definition of excess. Corrupt and obsessed with money, the Mayor is determined to make every inch of Oakton his own personal piggy bank, leading him to destroy Liberty Park and build a dangerous amusement park. Mayor knows how to grease the wheels of any project in town, so long as he gets greased as well.
PRECIOUS
THE FACE LICKER
She can play fetch, she can play dead, and she will do anything to protect her friends. Precious says whatever is on her mind with no filter, and perhaps the only dog in the world more interested in befriending squirrels than chasing them. She often forms a trio with Surly and Buddy, and, where Buddy doesn’t say a word, precious more than makes up for it
SURLY
THE ULTIMATE SURVIVOR
A smart-aleck rodent who isn’t nearly as mean as he thinks he is. After the events of the first film. Surly has learned to co-operate with the park animals and no longer thinks only of himself. However, he still hasn’t quite got rid of his stubborn streak, and when the nut shot blows up he wants nothing more than to go back to his former laid back lifestyle, except perhaps to prove Andie Wrong.
MR FENG
THE KUNG FU MASTER
While he may look cute and friendly, beneath his fuzzy exterior lies a fierce and menacing master of Kung Fu. Behind his big beady eyes is a weapon of mouse destruction bent on protecting his turn from any and all trespassers. The only thing that will set him off faster than wandering into his domain calling him cute.
BUDDY
THE ENDEARING SIDE-KICK
Surly’s right-hand man and partner in crime. Buddy has never left his side ever since they were little and is the closest thing he has to family. True to his name and loyal to a fault. Buddy follows Surly on his most ambitious missions, as well as his most fur-brained
The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature Official Synopsis
When the evil mayor of Oakton decides to tear down Liberty Park and build an amusement park in its place, Surly, Buddy, Andie and the rest of the animals are suddenly homeless! Surly tries to fight back but realises it’s not going to be easy.
The mayor has got an animal control squad patrolling the park… Precious has been dognapped by the mayor’s hyperactive daughter… And Surly has offended Mr Feng, an adorable city mouse with deadly kung-fu skills.
Surly realises that he has to put aside his differences with the animals and get everybody to work together in order to defeat the mayor, rescue Precious, and save Liberty Park… Before it’s too late!
