Alan Bennett’s wonderfully bizarre tale of The Lady in the Van jumps from stage (and radio) to the big screen with one of the London Film Festival’s more eclectic offerings.
Telling the story of Bennett’s relationship with a Lady who lives, you guessed right, in a van in his street has Maggie Smith giving another tour de force performance of poignancy and verve. She is joined in the film by Alex Jennings, Jim Broadbent, Frances De La Tour and Roger Allam.
The film was in town this evening for its premiere, Cassam Looch and Colin Hart were our men in the square, here’s how they got on.
