Netflix has announced that production has officially begun in the UK on ‘The Inbetweeners 3,’ bringing the beloved British comedy franchise back for another feature-length outing.
The new film will continue the story of the hugely popular sitcom and its two record-breaking movies, with the original quartet returning to their iconic roles. Simon Bird will reprise his role as Will McKenzie, alongside James Buckley as Jay Cartwright, Blake Harrison as Neil Sutherland and Joe Thomas as Simon Cooper.
The film will once again be written and directed by ‘The Inbetweeners’ creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, reuniting the creative team behind the original series and its big-screen adventures.
The feature will be produced by Claire Jones alongside Banijay’s Patrick Holland and F Park Productions’ Mark Lesbirel. Caroline Levy, Caroline Leddy, Phil Gilbert, Suzanne Knight, Tom Jordan, Farhana Bhula, Iain Morris and Damon Beesley will serve as executive producers.

The announcement marks the latest chapter in one of Britain’s most successful comedy franchises, which began life on Channel 4 in 2008.
The original ‘The Inbetweeners’ sitcom aired on Channel 4 between 2008 and 2010, following suburban teenager Will McKenzie and his three friends as they navigated the awkward realities of school, friendship, romance and growing up.
Set at the fictional Rudge Park Comprehensive, the series centred on Will, Simon, Neil and Jay as they attempted to survive teenage life, with their plans frequently descending into spectacular embarrassment.
Across its three series, ‘The Inbetweeners’ became a ratings phenomenon for Channel 4, setting new viewing records and earning multiple awards. Its popularity subsequently made the leap to the big screen with two Film4-backed feature films.
‘The Inbetweeners Movie’ arrived in 2011 and opened at No. 1 at the box office, setting a record at the time for the biggest opening weekend ever recorded by a UK comedy. The sequel, ‘The Inbetweeners 2,’ followed in 2014 and continued the franchise’s box-office success, also breaking records.
Now, more than a decade after the second film, Will, Jay, Neil and Simon are heading back into the spotlight for another big-screen adventure.
Netflix has confirmed that production is now underway in the UK. Further details surrounding the story, supporting cast and release date are yet to be announced.
