The-Heat-Quad-PosterPaul Feig’s The Heat hits theatres this weekend in the US, and with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy leading the cast, things are looking pretty good for the comedy-actioner.

Feig’s last feature, Bridesmaids, was of course a huge hit for all involved, earning two Oscar nominations along with almost 0m. at the box office.

After catching the gala featurette for the film last week, Fox have released a new red-band clip, in which we get to see Bullock and McCarthy working together to get themselves out of a pretty sticky situation. And, as you can expect, this one earns its red-band rating and then some.

Uptight and straight-laced, FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) is a methodical investigator with a reputation for excellence–and hyper-arrogance. Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy), one of Boston P.D.’s “finest,” is foul-mouthed and has a very short fuse, and uses her gut instinct and street smarts to catch the most elusive criminals. Neither has ever had a partner, or a friend for that matter. When these two wildly incompatible law officers join forces to bring down a ruthless drug lord, they become the last thing anyone expected: buddies.

Bullock and McCarthy are of course at the centre of The Heat as the buddy movie’s leading cops. And they’re joined by a great supporting cast, led by Michael Rapaport, Demián Bichir, Nathan Corddry , Marlon Wayans, Kaitlin Olson, Taran Killam, Andy Buckley, and Tony Hale.

Feig is directing from a script by Katie Dippold (MADtv, Parks and Recreation), who makes her feature debut with the film.

The Heat hits theatres in the US this Friday, June 28th, and will be crossing the Atlantic for a 31st July release date here in the UK. For now, here’s the latest clip from the movie, along with a final reminder that it’s unsuitable for work. Enjoy.

Since graduating, I spend as much time as possible watching films/TV shows, reading books, and listening to music. So getting to write about what I love is nothing short of awesome. Biggest film-related hope for 2014/ever: Guy Ritchie announcing the RocknRolla sequel is finally moving forward.
