The Hate U Give, based on the book by Angie Thomas, came to the 2018 London Film Festival this evening. It stars Amandla Stenberg (Rue from The Hunger Games, Everything Everything), Regina Hall, Russell Hornsby, Anthony Mackie, Issa Rae, Common, Algee Smith, Sabrina Carpenter, K. J. Apa, and Lamar Johnson. It is directed by George Tillman Jr.

Amandla Stenberg talked about reading the book for the first time, and how the character spoke to her and captured her heart. She also talks about the responsibility of the role and the film as a whole.

The Hate U Give is released in the US on the 19th of October, 2018 and in the UK on the 26th of October.
