Bill Purple’s The Book of Love premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival and is heading for a US release in the second week of January.
While there’s no UK release date set for the movie, previously entitled The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, the tearjerker has a fine cast which includes Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams so news of a release on this side of the Atlantic can’t be far off.
Jason Sudeikis leads the film with Williams as a recent widower looking to rediscover his way through life following the sudden death of his wife (Jessica Biel).
Orlando Jones, Paul Reiser, Mary Steenburgen, and Bryan Batt lend their hand in supporting roles, and we’ve got the first look poster and trailer for you today.
Of note, and something that will help draw in the crowds, is the presence of Biel’s husband Justin Timberlake as the film’s musical supervisor and composer. Timberlake recently lent his vocal talents to Dreamworks’ Trolls film and continues to act in front of the camera with a rumoured role in the new Woody Allen film.
Maisie Williams may not wish to shake off the shackles of Arya Stark just yet, but with two shorter seasons left of the HBO show we can expect to see her taking more film roles. If you missed her leading Carol Morley’s dreamlike The Falling alongside Florence Pugh then do make an effort to check that out. Her turn in the latest series of Doctor Who made for a diverting approach to The Doctor’s antagonists, and perhaps we’ll see more of her in the show’s coming seasons.
