We spoke to the cast and directors of AppleTV+’s latest original feature film The Beanie Bubble.

Why did the world suddenly treat stuffed animals like gold? Ty Warner (Zach Galifianakis) was a frustrated toy salesman until his collaboration with three women grew his masterstroke of an idea into the biggest toy craze in history. “The Beanie Bubble” is an inventive story about what and who we value, and the unsung heroes whose names didn’t appear on the heart-shaped tag.

Galifianakis revealed to us what attracted him to Ty’s character and what he remembers about the Beanie Baby boom. The actor also tells us what he thinks the majority of most billionaire types have in common and what makes them more likely to succeed in their respective fields.

We were also delighted to chat to Elizabeth Banks – the actor who plays Robbie, one of the woman behind Warner’s incredible and very unexpected success. Banks shared her own memories of the Beanie craze and the reason behind it. The actor also takes to us about her admiration for Robbie’s character and what made her take on such a role.

Elsewhere, co-directors and real life married couple Kristin Gore and Damian Kulash, Jr. talk to us about their ability to capture both the absurd and the sublime behind this very American story. The duo also spoke about their wish to highlight the women behind such a successful endeavour.
