The Banshees of Inisherin

The Banshees of Inisherin, aka one of the best films of the year, reunites the trio of talent that is Martin McDonagh, Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson for the first time since In Bruges. The results are as you’d expect: dark – and fecking funny.

To mark the film’s theatrical release we had the pleasure in speaking to the two leading stars Farrell and Gleeson, as they tell us just how easy a decision it was to sign up to this project, and how important it is to have that element of trust with your filmmaker, as they do with McDonagh. We also speak about the animals that populate the film – and their co-stare Barry Keoghan, who Farrell lived with throughout this production…

Synopsis

On a remote island off the coast of Ireland, Pádraic is devastated when his buddy Colm suddenly puts an end to their lifelong friendship. With help from his sister and a troubled young islander, Pádraic sets out to repair the damaged relationship by any means necessary. However, as Colm’s resolve only strengthens, he soon delivers an ultimatum that leads to shocking consequences.
