But with THR now reporting that Will Arnett has joined the cast, my anticipation has risen that much higher. As a huge fan of everything Arnett does, this is awesome news.
Megan Fox was the first cast member to be announced for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, taking the role of April O’Neil. And then Alan Ritchson, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard, and Noel Fisher were announced at the end of last month as the actors chosen for the role of the titular turtles.
And with Arnett coming on board, the cast is very much taking shape nicely.
Arnett’s role is being kept secret for now, but it is known that he’s joined as one of the leads, and that he won’t be playing Casey Jones. We’re still yet to have a Splinter or a Shredder come on board, and I’m eager to find out whether Arnett has taken one of those two classic roles, another role from the franchise, or a new character being introduced next year.
Jonathan Liebesman (Clash of the Titans) is directing from a script co-written by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol).
Arnett will soon be returning to his Emmy-nominated role of Gob in Arrested Development Season 4, which is set to debut on Netflix next month, and we can’t wait to see him alongside all the Bluths once more. He’ll also be lending his voice as Batman in next year’s anticipated The Lego Movie, giving us at least two blockbusters to look forward to with him next year.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is set for release on 6th June, 2014. Production is expected to get underway soon, and we can’t wait to get a look at the first footage, most likely towards the end of this year.
