To celebrate the release of Ted Lasso, which starts this weekend on Apple TV+, we had the pleasure of chatting to all the main players of the show and why it’s about more than just football.

Based on the character that appeared in some promotional video for NBC Sports in 2013, Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) is an American Football coach brought to the Premier League to manage Richmond Fc who are struggling to stay afloat in the division. But while the show has all the flashings of the slick, fast-paced football on show, its steeped in the real-life drama, touching on subjects of family, bullying, friendship, loneliness, and loyalty, all under the watchful eye of executive producer Bill Lawrence (Scrubs).

Here, we spoke to Sudeikis about returning to the role and whether The Queen will be watching, as well as Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Jeremy Swift, Nick Mohammed, Phil Dunster and Brendan Hunt (one of the show’s co-writers).
