Obviously there has been a veritable bucket-load of news coming out regarding Man of Steel, the latest Superman reboot/sequel/film/thing and we have gathered it all together in one place for you, right here. Whether it’s the absence of underpants, the presence of perf-cap suits or the casting of most of the actors in the known world in assorted roles, we’ve got it all.

On the subject of casting, we now know that Julia Ormond, who was to be Lara, Kal-El’s Kryptonian mother, has now been replaced. In her place we have Ayelet Zurer, who is perhaps slightly less well-known than Ormond, though that doesn’t really matter much in the circumstances. Zurer has already appeared opposite Tom Hanks in Angels and Demons, Eric Bana in Munich and a whole bunch of people in Vantage Point, so she’s certainly no novice and in fact has an altogether ethereal look about her that seems likely to suit Lara very well.

Zurer is due to start shooting this week, so she’ll not have any run-in time. How many of the rest of the esteemed cast she’ll share screen time with remains to be seen, though Russell Crowe and perhaps Michael Shannon seem likely bets.
