True Brit Entertainment has unveiled the official trailer for the upcoming coming-of-age drama, ‘Sunny Dancer,’ offering a glimpse into a story that pulses with ambition, identity, and the messy poetry of growing up.
Written and directed by George Jaques (Black Dog), the film blends sharp humour with emotional honesty, delivering what promises to be a deeply personal and profanely funny romantic comedy-drama aimed squarely at young adults figuring out where they fit when life has already thrown them off-script.
At its core is Ivy, played by Bella Ramsey (The Last of Us), a teenager whose final summer before turning 18 looks nothing like the carefree chaos her peers are enjoying. While others are out partying and chasing fleeting freedom, Ivy is shipped off by her well-meaning but overprotective parents to a recovery retreat she dubs, with razor-edged wit, “chemo camp.”
What follows is not a story about illness, but about the strange, uncharted terrain that comes after. Against her will, Ivy steps into a summer that reshapes her world, one filled with unexpected friendships, first love, and a band of misfits all determined to squeeze every drop out of life.
Alongside Ramsey, the film features an impressive ensemble including James Norton (Happy Valley), Jessica Gunning (Baby Reindeer), and Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother). Rising talents Daniel Quinn-Toye (Sterling Point), Earl Cave (Days of the Bagnold Summer), Ruby Stokes (Lockwood & Co.), Conrad Khan (County Lines), and Jasmine Elcock round out the cast.
