It was just days ago that we learned Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford will reunite for Indiana Jones 5, and now the movie’s writer has been revealed. However, depending on how much you enjoyed Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, this news could be cause for concern!

That’s because Spielberg has turned to David Koepp, the man responsible for co-writing what many Indy fans consider to be a franchise killing instalment in the Indiana Jones series.

However, his other writing credits are a little better, especially as the likes of Jurassic Park, Mission: Impossible, and Spider-Man are among them. Most recently, Koepp has penned the likes of Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit and Inferno, so he has an interesting body of work.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s unclear at this stage whether the writer will be starting from scratch or working off an existing story/treatment (Crystal Skull for example credited George Lucas and Jeff Nathanson for story credits). Talking of Lucas, it’s still not clear whether he’ll have any involvement here as he wasn’t mentioned in the press release.

Regardless, Indiana Jones 5 has been pencilled in for release on July 19th, 2019, making Ford 77 years old by the time it reaches the big screen. Just how big of a role he’ll have and the direction the story will take has had fans talking all week, but we’ll have to wait and see.
