Sony Pictures Classics have acquired the US distribution rights to Pedro Almodovar’s The Skin I Live In.

The film, which is expected to start filming soon, is loosely based on Thierry Jonquet’s novel Mygale, and is a revenge tale telling the story of a plastic surgeon hunting down the men who raped his daughter.

Antonio Banderas (Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!) will star as the plastic surgeon, while The Skin I Live in will also feature performances from Elena Anaya (Talk to Her), Fernando Cayo (The Orphanage), Marisa Paredes (Talk to Her), Blanca Suárez (Shiver) and Ana Mena (Marisol).

Sony Pictures Classics will release The Skin I Live in next year. It makes the tenth collaboration between Almodovar and Sony Pictures Classics.

Deadline reported this one.
