Peccadillo Pictures has dropped a new official trailer for Sophie Dupuis’ ‘SOLO,’ a fierce and tender drama set in Montreal’s thriving drag scene.
Starring rising talent Théodore Pellerin (Lurker, Never Rarely Sometimes Always, Beau Is Afraid) alongside Félix Maritaud (Sauvage, 120 Beats Per Minute), the film will light up UK and Irish cinemas from 19th September.
‘SOLO’ follows Simon (Pellerin), a young and ambitious drag queen whose star is rapidly on the rise. When he falls hard for Olivier (Maritaud), a magnetic new performer at his club, their romance burns fast and bright—before descending into a destructive rivalry that threatens everything Simon has built.
But Simon’s personal life grows even more complicated when his estranged mother Claire, a celebrated opera singer who left the family behind 15 years ago, suddenly returns to Montreal to reignite her career. Idolising her but barely knowing her, Simon is desperate to forge a relationship. As his world spirals between two turbulent loves—one romantic, one familial—he is pushed to confront a painful but liberating truth: he deserves more.
Premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival to widespread acclaim, ‘SOLO’ took home the coveted Best Canadian Film Award and cemented Dupuis as one of the most exciting voices in contemporary cinema.
The trailer teases a film bursting with intensity, colour, and raw emotion—a visually stunning celebration of drag artistry, layered with an intimate story about passion, self-worth, and the messy pursuit of love.
