The film is expected to be released, at least in some international territories, this summer. And now a handful of new international character posters have surfaced, giving us a great look at the leading cast.
Snowpiercer is set in a future where, after a failed experiment to stop global warming, an Ice Age kills off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine. A class system evolves on the train but a revolution brews.
The terrific ensemble cast is led by Chris Evans, Song Kang-ho, Jamie Bell, Ed Harris, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Octavia Spencer, Ewen Bremner, Ko Ah-sung, and Alison Pill.
Bong is directing from a script he co-wrote with Kelly Masterson (Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead), based on the original French graphic novel, Le Transperceneige.
The film sees Bong working once more with Song Kang-ho and Ko Ah-sung, who starred in the writer-director’s renowned 2006 monster film, The Host.
Snowpiercer is currently without a firm release date in the US or UK, but we’re hoping that the reported summer slot will indeed turn out to be correct, at least in some territories abroad, and that its release won’t be far behind on our shores. For now, here are the great new international character posters, which you can click through to enlarge.
