It would appear Sky have set the bar high with their 2019 Christmas ad campaign. It’s going to take some beating, but who could beat reuniting Elliot and E.T. for the first time after 37 years?.

In the over 4 minute Ad for Sky advert E.T. comes back to visit his friend, Elliott, for the holidays. During his stay, E.T. learns that Elliott now has a family of his own and that technology has completely changed on Earth since his last visit.

Actor Henry Thomas reprises his role of Elliott opposite the puppet. Even though E.T. came from the Alien enthusiast Steven Spielberg, the filmmaker was not involved in the short film but he did give his blessing for the ad.

On the Holiday reunion Thomas stated Thomas says: “Looking at the storyboards, I could see exactly why Steven was really behind it because the integrity of the story isn’t lost in this retelling.”

‘E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial’ is one of the classics from the Spielberg vault, released in 1982 the film starred Henry Thomas, Dee Wallace, Peter Coyote and an adorable Drew Barrymore. It tells the story of Elliott (Thomas), a boy who befriends an extraterrestrial, dubbed “E.T.”, who is stranded on Earth. Elliott and his siblings help E.T. return to his home planet while attempting to keep him hidden from the government.
