finding wilson

Today, we’re spotlighting a short film that’s touching on the important theme of mental health, with a stellar performance from its lead actress, Darcy Jacobs.

Produced by Fact Not Fiction Films, Finding Wilson has recently toured a number of prestigious film festivals across the UK and internationally. Having made a big impact down under at the Sydney Women’s International Film Festival and after a standing ovation at the North East International Film Festival here in the UK, it’s been an exciting few months for the cast and crew, and the film is about to enter the busy awards season.

With just a few short days before this year’s films get selected and voted on at the Oscars, there’s growing momentum behind Finding Wilson, and we’re hoping it continues to get the attention it deserves.

The filmmakers, who are also supporting The Lucy Rayner Foundation, are aiming to make Finding Wilson a bigger international story in order to raise awareness of mental health programs, and to encourage young people to find assistance when they need it.

With mental health issues affecting many young adults today, the film industry has increasingly set its sights on incorporating empowering messages to help make the discussion around mental health more open – allowing long-term sufferers to seek out help, and talk more openly about the issues they face.

The short film tells the story of a young girl who’s life is changed dramatically after encountering a stranger in a secluded forest.

Starring award-winning actress Darcy Jacobs opposite Rhea Bailey, and directed by Em Smith, the short follows Fact Not Fiction Films’ previous production of Missing a Note, which won numerous awards and festival selections in the past year.
