Comedy sequels tend to be very hit or miss – just look at Horrible Bosses 2 – but that hasn’t stopped Universal from moving ahead with a follow-up to Bad Neighbours (which was simply Neighbors in the US).

It has a release date too, and will reach us on May 13th, 2016. The studio aren’t doing things by half measures either, as it has been confirmed that director Nicholas Stoller will be back alongside returning cast members Seth Rogen (The Interview), Zac Efron (The Paperboy) and Rose Byrne (X-Men: First Class).

Bad Neighbours cost only $18 million, but would go on to earn a very impressive $268 million worldwide.

Writers Andrew Jay Cohen and Brendan O’Brien will also return for the sequel, and the plot this time apparently revolves around a sorority moving in next door to the couple played by Rogen and Bryne. The duo then enlist their former nemeses (led by Efron) from the fraternity to help battle the raucous sisters.

This is the first project lined up by Rogen since the controversy surrounding The Interview. He’s currently shooting Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs biopic alongside Michael Fassbender. That will reach us in October.
