It was revealed this week that Scarlett Johansson is expecting her first child with fiancé Romain Dauriac, but despite the happy news for the couple, this has of course led to speculation about what it means for her role as the Black Widow in Joss Whedon’s star-studded sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron.

According to E! News, the baby is due in August and the actress is still set to head straight to work on the Avengers Assemble follow-up when press for Captain America: The Winter Soldier wraps up. A source tells the site that, “They’re going to fast-track her scenes,” while Marvel refused to comment about the production which begins on April 5th.

Gossip sites didn’t pick up on the fact that Johansson was showing any signs of pregnancy when she appeared at the Oscars this past Sunday, so it’s certainly feasible that she could indeed shoot her scenes as soon as possible. However, as this is a movie which very much focuses on the team of heroes coming together, it’s not hard to imagine that at least some of Johansson’s scenes may need to be cut when you take the schedules of her fellow cast members into account.

Of course, Scarlett has praised her stunt double Heidi Moneymaker countless times in the past, so that surely at least somewhat ensures that Black Widow is still going to leaping into action against the villainous Ultron!

Avengers: Age of Ultron is set to be released on May 1st, 2015.
