Thanks to Marvel, Cinematic Universes are all the rage these days, and that’s why Universal are looking to create one for their stable of classic movie monsters. Dracula Untold was supposed to be the first part of that, but the tepid response to the movie which starred Luke Evans might mean that’s no longer the case.

Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan were hired in 2014 to think up this universe which will include characters like The Mummy, The Wolfman, Van Helsing, and just about any other horror icon you can think of. The Creature From The Black Lagoon is also being remade, and it seems the studio has a leading lady in mind.

Avengers: Age of Ultron star Scarlett Johansson is being eyed to star in the remake of Jack Arnold’s 1954 sci-fi horror classic which revolved around a group of scientists that discover a dangerous pre-historic creature that is part human and part fish while on an expedition in the amazon. Julia Adams was the lead in that.

Creature From The Black Lagoon was a hit at the time and there’s been talk of a remake for decades now.

You have to imagine that the lead female role would be updated for Scarlett Johansson given her action credits, but nabbing the actress would be a pretty huge get for Universal. She’s not in talks just yet though.
