As movie adaptions have been coming into the light in Hollywood, fans have been craving for the perfect introspective film that captivates the characters and story lines in which players have fallen deeply passionate about. In this case, Sam Raimi, a director that has been well-known for his work on the Spiderman trilogy, was the initial director for the scheduled World of Warcraft film.

However, according to an interview conducted by CraveOnline done at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, the director’s response on the film’s update was this:

“Actually, they don’t have me directing World of Warcraft anymore because when I took the Oz job, they had to move on to another director,” Raimi said. “They had to start making it.”

Despite this upsetting news from Raimi himself, there has not been any official news announced from Blizzard Entertainment on the topic of searching for new directors nor the removal of Raimi as director.

In previously conducted interviews, Raimi  said that he had planned for a standalone story that would be set in the World of Warcraft realm. Instead, the director will be occupied in creating the prequel to The Wizard of Oz in Oz: The Great and Powerful. As for the WoW film, hopefully, the idea for this will be placed in the hands of a motivated director that will carry out the game to its greatest potential on screen.
