Red Dead Redemption turns down BaftaIn a brazenly self-confident move, Rockstar Games have denied Red Dead Redemption the chance of winning a BAFTA Video Game Award.

Well, at least they’re living up to the company name.

While the shortlist has yet to be announced, CVG has learnt that the studio’s Grand Theft Western hasn’t been nominated in any of the key categories such as Artistic Achievement, Best Game, Gameplay and Story.

A BAFTA spokesperson revealed that while the game was eligible for the awards, Rockstar “decided not to put the game forward for consideration”.

With Red Dead scooping Best Game of the Year titles like they’re going out of fashion, we’re going to go out on a limb and say they would have been odds-on favourite to nab at least a few awards.

The BAFTA Video Game Awards 2011, sponsored by retailer GAME, will take place on Wednesday, March 16 at the London Hilton Hotel.
