Denis Villeneuve wants to expand his star-studded cast of the ‘Dune’ franchise and is currently courting Robert Pattinson for a role in the third installment.

While Villeneuve is still in the end phase of finishing up his script, production is set to begin in the summer.

Variety reports that there’s been interest in having Pattinson join the project, starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya. However, no formal offer has been presented, and it is unknown who he would play.

Florence Pugh and Anya Taylor-Joy are expected to return for the third installment, which is set twelve years after the events of Part 2. Jason Momoa has also recently revealed that he will reprise his role as Duncan Idaho.

In 2024, Legendary Pictures officially announced that development on ‘Dune 3’ was in full swing, following the remarkable success of ‘Dune: Part 2.’ The first two installments of this epic saga have collectively grossed an impressive $1.12 billion at the global box office, captivating audiences worldwide. Additionally, they have garnered a total of eight Academy Awards from 15 nominations, with both films receiving coveted nominations for Best Picture, solidifying their place in cinematic history.

Pattinson recently co-starred with Zendaya in the A24 film ‘The Drama,’ and is currently filming Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of ‘The Odyssey.’
