After months of speculation, Variety is reporting that ‘Good Time’ and ‘High Life’ actor, Robert Pattison has entered into negotiations to take on the role of Bruce Wayne aka Batman in Matt Reeves’ ‘Batman’.

Since Ben Affleck officially confirmed he would not be returning to don the bat mask in Reeve’s noir ‘Batman’ rumours have been flying high as to who would be next in line to take on the role. Whilst many, are baffled by a possible casting of Pattinson as Batman, others have been quick to defend the choice comparing the outrage to when the late Heath Ledger was cast as the Joker in Christopher Nolan’s trilogy.

It has also been stated that while there is no real confirmation at this point, Pattinson is indeed the frontrunner, with Nicholas Hoult playing a close runner up.

Reeves has previously said of the stand-alone noir project that the story is “told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films.”

Pattinson as well and truly shrugged off his sex symbol tag from his days in Twilight and has more than proved his worth as an actor delving into numerous art house films.
