Robbie Amell

The Tomorrow People (which aired on E4 here in the UK) only lasted one season, but its lead star Robbie Amell has already found himself another big role on The CW in Arrow spin-off, The Flash.

Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen made his debut in Arrow and was last seen being struck by the bolt of lightning which gives him the power of super speed. The pilot – which recently leaked – has been very well received by fans, as was the first trailer for the series which you can watch if you missed it by clicking here.

Robbie Amell is the cousin of Stephen Amell, the main star of Arrow, who plays Oliver Queen.

In The Flash, he will play Ronnie Raymond, a hero better known to comic book fans as Firestorm. The series will first introduce him as a maintenance worker at S.T.A.R. Labs and Dr. Caitlin Snow’s fiancé. He apparently plays an integral part in the particle accelerator accident that transforms Barry into The Flash.

In the comics, Ronnie must merge with Jason Rusch to become the nuclear powered Firestorm. He retains physical control, while Jason serves as the voice of reason within his head.

Though the focus will likely be on The Flash himself at first, it’s hard to imagine that we won’t see Firestorm somewhere down the line in the series which promises to introduce a lot of superpowered characters.

“Geoff Johns, Andrew Kreisberg and myself designed the pilot and series to include Ronnie (aka Firestorm) — and to actually have someone with Robbie’s talent playing the role is beyond exciting,” says executive producer Greg Berlanti. “We can’t wait for viewers and fans of the character to check it out.”

Amell added, “I’m so excited to join forces with Greg Berlanti and The CW again on ‘The Flash.’ Being brought into the DC Universe is a dream, I can’t wait to get started!”
