Exciting times ahead! The Pinewood Studios website is reporting (with a nod to their Twitter account) that production has begun on Ridley Scott’s Prometheus which confirms our earlier report stating the movie was shooting in the UK and not in Canada.

This will be the fifth film of Scott’s to use the facility. He made the first Alien there, 1985’s Legend, the underrated White Squall and (ahem) Robin Hood. The site has a quote from the filmmaker about his support of the studio:

“It’s my heritage, my personal heritage, I film everywhere in the world and I think all things considered what we have to offer here are as good as anything you’re going to get in Hollywood.”

Pinewood Studios recently played host to the Margaret Thatcher biopic, The Iron Lady which recently completed its shoot. It’s heartening to know that Scott is back there working on similar material to the film which propelled him to the A-list.

Here’s hoping lightening can strike twice.
