Not a fan of the Transformers franchise? Tough luck! Paramount Pictures has today announced plans to release three more instalments in the franchise, the first of which we knew about. That’s the Michael Bay helmed Transformers 5 which is set to be released on June 23rd, 2017 (the same weekend that DC Comics adaptation Wonder Woman hits).

However, the surprising news here is that Transformers 6 will follow on June 8th, 2018. Part 7 meanwhile has been pencilled in for June 28th, 2019, and we’re now left to wonder whether or not Bay is going to be directing those as well. Considering the fact that they’re all being released so closely together, common sense says that he’ll shoot three back to back.

That hasn’t been confirmed just yet, but the filmmaker bidding farewell to the franchise with an epic trilogy does make sense, and seeing as these movies always make upwards of $1 billion, Bay is no doubt looking at an absolutely massive pay day for making all three.

Transformers 5 plot details are being kept under wraps, but we do know that Mark Wahlberg is set to return as the lead and that the script was penned by Iron Man’sĀ Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. Paramount recently put together a writers room for this series, so it’s likely there that a plan for this trilogy of Transformers movies was formulated by the studio.
