DreamWorks appears to be very confident in the outcome of director Shawn Levy’s sci-fi drama Real Steel, as they have already begun gearing up for the sequel after internal screenings garnered strong feedback, according to Deadline.

For those of you not yet familiar with the film supposedly so good, it’s worth a sequel before the public even judges for themselves, Real Steel follows Charlie Kenton (played by Hugh Jackman) in the near-future as he is forced to leave his boxing champion-past behind once giant robots are made to replace human fighters in the ring. He takes on a role as a small-time promoter, and with his son in tow, joins forces with a discarded robot he hopes can contend for the championship.

The film is based on the short story Steel by Richard Matheson, who also wrote the AMAZING What Dreams May Come, in addition to I Am Legend. I have to admit, DreamWorks’ confidence has taken my intrigue and pumped it up a notch with this news, and now I can’t wait to see what they’ve got in their corner. If you haven’t gotten a chance yet, check out the trailer for Real Steel below, coming to theaters everywhere October 7th.
