In what is a clear sign of how huge a cultural phenomenon Pixar Studios have become, Slash Film brings news that The United States Postal Service has created a series of Pixar image stamps which are due out this year (August 19th to be precise). Here are the details from the company:

This pane of 20 stamps includes five different designs featuring Pixar characters: Lightning McQueen and Mater from Cars (2006); Remy the rat and Linguini from Ratatouille (2007); Buzz Lightyear and two of the green, three-eyed aliens from Toy Story (1995); Carl Fredricksen and Dug from Up (2009); and the robot WALL*E from WALL*E (2008).

Having previously used older characters from the Disney 2D animation canon on their stamps, its good see the world of Pixar being recognised, although it’s interesting to note that both Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc. have been omitted from the list.

I would have thought the lovable monster partnership of Mike and Sulley in particular, represented more of an iconic imprint of the company than the characters from Cars.
