After offering up a first look at Detective Harvey Bullock, a young Catwoman and Batman’s faithful butler Alfred Pennyworth, the latest character image from Gotham puts the spotlight on The Penguin.
In the series from DC Comics and Fox, the iconic Batman villain will be played by Robin Lord Taylor (The Walking Dead) and this younger version of Oswald Cobblepot is so far the first member of the Caped Crusader’s rogues gallery to be cast in the series.
According to the official description of Gotham’s take on The Penguin, he has the brains of a chess grandmaster and the morals of a jackal, and is a low-level psychopath for gangster Fish Mooney. He hides his sadistic lust for power behind an exquisitely polite demeanor. In other words, he’s real nasty piece of work!
Gotham focuses on a young Detective James Gordon and Bruce Wayne long before he becomes Batman. The fact that Fox are making such an effort to promote the series is a good indication that they’re confident in the series, so don’t be surprised if we hear more about it being picked up for a full season order soon.
