Due out in the US next Wednesday, the upcoming Red Dawn remake has been gearing up ahead of its release, bringing us a new clip, TV spots, and a patriotic new poster in the past week.

With one week left to go before it arrives in theatres, a new trailer has debuted on MSN, keeping intact the element of patriotism, and teasing plenty more action from its young leading cast.

“A city in Washington state awakens to the surreal sight of foreign paratroopers dropping from the sky – shockingly, the U.S. has been invaded and their hometown is the initial target. Quickly and without warning, the citizens find themselves prisoners and their town under enemy occupation. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganizing themselves into a guerilla group of fighters. Taking inspiration from their high school mascot, they call themselves the Wolverines, banding together to protect one another, liberate their town from its captors, and take back their freedom.”

Chris Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Josh Peck, Adrianne Palicki, Isabel Lucas, Brett Cullen, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan lead the cast, with long-time stunt co-ordinator Dan Bradley (the Bourne films, Three Kings) making his directorial debut from a script by Carl Ellsworth (Disturbia) and Jeremy Passmore (Special).

Red Dawn will be released in the US next Wednesday, 21st November, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. Still no word yet on when we can expect it here in the UK, but here’s to hoping that it will arrive on our shores early in the New Year. With such a stellar leading cast, it looks like this should be a solid remake and debut for director Bradley.
