Oz-The-Great-and-Powerful-PosterSam Raimi’s Oz the Great and Powerful is the anticipated prequel to the story of the wizard we’re all acquainted with.

James Franco takes the lead as Oscar, who must transform into the titular wizard, and with just over two weeks before it lands, the anticipation for Oz the Great and Powerful is definitely on high.

The last trailer we saw was back in November, and we’ve since seen plenty of great things from the film, including a Super Bowl TV spot earlier this month. And with the film’s release very much on the horizon, Disney have debuted a final US trailer through Apple, giving us another great look at the upcoming blockbuster.

“When Oscar Diggs, a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot – fame and fortune are his for the taking – that is until he meets three witches, Theodora, Evanora and Glinda, who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity – and even a bit of wizardry – Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.”

Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, and Weisz completing the leading quartet brilliantly. And starring alongside them will be Zach Braff, Abigail Spencer, Tim Holmes, and Joey King.

Raimi is directing from a script by Mitchell Kapner (The Whole Nine Yards) and David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole). And Danny Elfman (Spider-Man) is once more taking scoring duties for the director, so we have a great soundtrack to look forward to.

Oz the Great and Powerful will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 8th March in the UK and US, giving us just two weeks to go before it hits. It looks like this could be one of the biggest films of the year, so be sure to book your tickets early if you want to see this soon on a screen as big as the IMAX. Here’s your final trailer to enjoy.
