Another day, another reimagining with Bram Stoker’s immortal Dracula the next literary figure loaded into the reboot cannon.

Jaume Collet-Serra did great things with the underrated chiller Orphan a few years ago and his next film is Unknown, which stars Liam Neeson, January Jones and Diane Kruger, due out in March this year and a few days ago Bad Ass Digest ran the story attaching the director to a new Dracula project.

BAD named Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy as the spec scriptwriters and also reported that Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way were all in to produce the flick. Now Deadline throw Warner Bros’ name into the ring, and also have a synopsis which contains the magic word ‘franchise’,

Jonathan Harker [is] the Scotland Yard detective who is tracking Dracula, and the script sets up the sleuth as a potential new franchise character.

In amongst the Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and Queen Victoria Vs. FrankenKing Kong (I made that one up) the notion of the demure Jonathan Harker setting up shop as a detective on the trail of a dastardly Count seems almost austere, and it’s not as if we’re sick to the pointy teeth of vampires right?

As long as they get Keanu Reeves on board, I’m in.
