Olympus-Has-Fallen-UK-Quad-PosterAntoine Fuqua’s Olympus Has Fallen is just a few weeks away from its March US release date, and we’re looking forward to seeing how this action blockbuster unfolds.

This year, we’ll be seeing two films focusing on a White House attack, and Olympus Has Fallen will be the first one out the gate next month.

Gerard Butler takes the lead here as our action hero, starring alongside Morgan Freeman and Aaron Eckhart in the leading trio. The first trailer landed earlier in the year, giving us a good first look at the action-thriller. And now we’ve got a new UK quad poster and a new US poster to share.

“When the White House (Secret Service Code: “Olympus”) is captured by a terrorist mastermind and the President is kidnapped, disgraced former Presidential guard Mike Banning finds himself trapped within the building. As our national security team scrambles to respond, they are forced to rely on Banning’s inside knowledge to help retake the White House, save the President, and avert an even bigger disaster.”

Joining Butler, Eckhart, and Freeman will be Ashley Judd, Radha Mitchell, Melissa Leo, Angela Bassett, Dylan McDermott, Robert Forster, and Rick Yune.

Fuqua (Training Day) is directing from a script co-written by Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt, both making their debuts as screenwriters.

Roland Emmerich’s White House Down is of course the second big-budget blockbuster with a similar theme this year, arriving in the height of the summer. That film will be led by Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx, and Maggie Gyllenhaal, and definitely looks like it will be worth watching, too.

Olympus Has Fallen will be released on 22nd March in the US, with its UK release date brought slightly forward to 17th April, as you can see in the new poster below (the photo of which was taken by Dave at the Vue cinema in Croydon).
