The-Mulbury-ProjectThe Mulbury Project is a very interesting independent horror/sci-fi project that comes from the co-writers of Hitman Absolution.

Due to hit the big screen next year, the project involves both a feature film and a comic series from co-writers Martin Brennan and Michael B. Jackson, and the first trailer has recently landed online. And given the genre, involving zombies and aliens, you can no doubt imagine why it’s not suitable for work.

“In the aftermath of an alien invasion, an orphan boy braves the disease ridden landscape to help a young girl find her way home and hide from the ruthless corporation that is chasing her.”

Richie Smyth is behind the camera of the film, having recently won a Cannes Lion Award this year for his ISPCC advert, I Can’t Wait.

The horror/sci-fi genres are very rarely seen in independent movies, especially those with a budget like this, and it’s a testament to these kinds of filmmakers who are eager to go against that grain.

Gareth Edwards did it with Monsters back in 2010, and made one of the most memorable independent films in a very, very long time. And here’s to hoping that Smyth, Brennan and Jackson will be doing the same thing here next year.

No word as of yet as to when we can expect The Mulbury Project to land in theatres, but here’s to hoping that it will be sooner rather than later. This is one that has us intrigued. For now, here’s the trailer to give you an idea of what to expect.
